Disentis can be reached by train or automobile. If you’re flying into Zurich or Munich, we recommend taking the train to avoid potential rush-hour congestion on the roads and risk missing your flight home.

There are frequent daily train connections between Zurich International Airport and Disentis. The train leaves at 18 minutes past the hour, nearly every hour, all day long. The train arrives in Disentis at 11 minutes past the hour, just under three hours later. You change trains in Zurich and Chur. The trip is lovely, especially the last section up the Rhine River’s spectacular gorge. And yes, we are in Switzerland, the trains come and go on schedule.

If you are driving, DO NOT attempt to go via Andermatt (even though your GPS may attempt to guide you that way). The Oberalp Pass highway is closed in winter. You can place your car on the train in Andermatt, but it is quite expensive, slow and there are only a couple of trains per day. Instead, please plan your highway route via Chur. For guests coming by road from Italy via Ticino, the Lukmanier Pass is generally open except during times of heavy snowfall.

We can also arrange private transfers between Zurich International Airport and Lodge Sax. The trip takes about three hours, a bit less if the traffic and road conditions are ideal. Book your transfer through us. To book your transfer or learn more details, please e-mail info@lodgesax.com.
