Discovery and adventure. Safety. Getting to the best terrain and snow immediately. Camaraderie and making new friends. Adding to your knowledge of the mountains, glaciers and the behaviour of snow. There are many reasons to hire a mountain guide for freeride skiing and snowboarding, touring and other activities like ice climbing and hiking.

Disentis has a number of qualified local mountain guides. We work closely with Paul Degonda and his team at Alpventura. (Mobile: +41 (0)79 262 4172)

Paul and all his guides know the region’s terrain intimately, speak English, engage on a personal level with all their clients, are safety-conscious and are as eager as you are to find the best snow in the prevailing conditions. There’s not much they won’t do to get you to the greatest snow. We can attest to that personally, because we ski with them regularly.

Often at Disentis we can ski directly off the lifts into the powder, and on these days a guide will help you rack up huge vertical. When we’re between storms, we need to go a little farther afield, and the options are numerous. Our guides will use all of their accumulated knowledge and their imagination to deliver the best experiences possible. This can include using cable cars that aren’t even official skiing lifts, or driving elsewhere in the valley and using one of the other Surselva ski areas as the jumping-off point for an epic peak-to-valley descent. They’re also happy to do longer tours, staying overnight in huts. They can even take you heli-skiing.

If you’re interested in being guided, please talk to us and we’ll be pleased to make the arrangements.
