We’re very happy to tell you that the Disentis region has several of Switzerland’s precious remaining statutory heli-skiing landing zones. Heli-skiing/heli-boarding in the Alps is very different from North America and other international destinations. It’s not even allowed in most Alpine countries, and Switzerland itself has only about 40 legal landing zones.
The remaining landing spots access some unbelievable terrain, however. The verticals you can bag in the Alps are typically much larger than what you experience “yo-yoing” in the trees with typical heli-operators Canada. Guided heli-skiing/snowboarding can get you to some once-in-a-lifetime, big-vertical, peak-to-valley descents miles from any lifts or ski resorts. It is also a great way to kick off a longer ski tour by putting you smack in the middle of the alpine right away.
Swiss Helicopter (formerly Air Grischa) is the local helicopter operator, and it has an A-Star helicopter based at Tavanasa, just a short drive down the valley from Disentis. Our recommended guiding service, Alpventura, owned by mountain guide Paul Degonda, offers daily heli-skiing packages through Swiss Helicopter. Please click or tap here for more information. We can arrange your heli-skiing day for you, including the ground transfer. The experience of a lifetime awaits you!
